Channel Systems Exhibition Booth at CAP Conference 2018

During the week of June 11th 2018, Channel Systems joined the Canadian Association of Physicists (CAP) conference in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The exhibition took place in the Student Union building at Dalhousie University.

Together with a small group of other exhibitors, we presented the products and services we had to offer. Throughout the two exhibition days I was approached by various students, researchers and industry people to discuss the imaging hardware we provide and what opportunities they may have for using our devices. A wide range of topics were presented at the show ranging from dark matter detection research and laser based applications to lithium ion performance research, to name a few.

At the show we offered live demonstrations of four of our cameras, one was a Xenics TE3 SWIR camera, another was the Infratec MWIR thermal camera, we had an intensified Cerenkov light imager and lastly a Specim IQ VNIR hyperspectral mobile camera.

One of the interesting exhibitor booths I was able to visit was the booth for SNOLAB out of Sudbury Ontario. SNOLAB is a worldwide known underground research facility that provides deep underground lab space for research requiring protection from cosmic background radiation. The underground portion of the facility is located at a depth of 2km and all of its clean room tunnels add up to nearly 5,000 square meters. SNOLAB is one of only a few labs around the world that offer the capabilities it has. One of the sophisticated detectors, which is related to Nobel prize winning research a few years ago, is contained within a 10 storey high chamber built within one of the tunnel sections.

Channel Systems has exhibited at the CAP Conference in the past and as always, it was a wonderful experience. We look forward to next year's Conference!
