AI-Powered Textile Classification For Automated Sorting

The Specim RETEX system combines hyperspectral technology with AI capabilities for accurate identification of textile materials, including complex blends and impurities, enabling real-time automated material separation and scalable textile processing.

Specim RETEX system integrates a Specim hyperspectral camera, AI-based classification software, and industrial computing. By leveraging AI to analyze spectral data, as opposed to depending on conventional machine vision technology, the Specim RETEX delivers significantly higher identification accuracy far beyond the visible range, which is essential for modern textile processing.

Specim RETEX Key Capabilities:

  • Pure cotton identification with 99% accuracy
  • Pure polyester identification with 98% accuracy
  • Polyamide identification with 99% accuracy
  • Identification of cotton and polyester percentage in polycotton blend with 5% error margin
  • Viscose, wool and acrylic identification
  • Elastane detection, including in previously unseen blends
  • Detection of impurities and colour recognition
  • Real-time processing for production environments

High-Speed Processing and Integration Ready

Specim RETEX system delivers a streamlined material processing solution, utilizing 'plug-and-play' hardware that can be integrated with existing processes without a need for redesign. Designed with integration in mind, it offers the possibility to connect to existing automation and material handling systems, direct electric impulse sorters, profinet and profibus protocol sorters.

RETEX offers very high processing speeds, up to 200 ms, allowing it to process up to 5 garments per second. It functions as a complete data management system, introducing data-based decision making in processes that were previously manually and data-lacking. Advanced settings allow for customization to the users specific application and automation system.

Specim RETEX Variants

Specim RETEX Core

Specim RETEX Core is designed for OEM's, machine builders and system integrators already working with the Specim FX17. It provides the core material-recognition engine and AI classification capabilities that allow for integration into existing systems. RETEX Core supports high-accuracy modelling and flexible integration, delivering the tools needed to build custom solutions without committing to a full turnkey system.

Included: Advancetech Computational Unit TPC B520-D70A (21"), pre-installed RETEX solution software, vesa mount for monitor.

Specim RETEX Lab

Specim RETEX Lab is ideal for R&D teams and quality control laboratories that need reliable material identification on a smaller scale. It supports controlled testing, spectral analysis and development while still utilizing the same AI-based identification engine found in the larger RETEX configurations. RETEX Lab allows teams to validate blends, detect elastane, and characterize incoming materials before moving to industrial-scale operations.

Included: Specim FX17, Labscanner 40x20 with dual halogen illumination, camera height adjustment assembly, cables, Advancetech Computational Unit TPC B520-D70A (21"), pre-installed RETEX solution software, vesa mount for monitor, remote training (2 hours).
