Research-Grade Spectral Performance for Demanding VNIR Applications

Specim has launched the Specim SX10, their new high-performance VNIR hyperspectral camera. As the second camera in the Specim SX series, the SX10 delivers research-grade spectral precision in a fast, integration-ready hyperspectral camera platform.

Advanced hyperspectral applications increasingly require both detailed spectral information and imaging platforms that integrate easily into complete measurement systems. Covering the 400–1000 nm spectral range, the Specim SX10 combines a high spatial pixel count with excellent signal-to-noise performance and fine spectral resolution, enabling users to capture both spatial and spectral detail with high precision.

At the same time, high-speed GigE connectivity and compatibility with Specim’s ecosystem of scanners and software provide the integration capabilities required for demanding imaging workflows in both research and industrial environments.

Designed for flexibility across measurement setups, the SX10 supports multiple lens options and adjustable working distances. A macro lens option enables detailed imaging of small samples and fine features, extending the camera’s capabilities for demanding laboratory and close-range measurement applications.

Specim SX10 Key Features and Benefits:

  • Spectral range of 400-1000 nm
  • High spatial resolution of 1560 pixels
  • Spectral flexibility with selection from 680 spectral bands
  • Fast frame rates up to 275 fps for fast acquisition
  • Unified spectral calibration and built-in Advanced Image Enhancement (AIE)

Ideal Solution for Precision VNIR Applications

Compared with the Specim FX10, the SX10 provides three times more spectral bands and three times finer spectral sampling, enabling users to detect and analyze subtle spectral differences in greater detail. This makes it an ideal solution for demanding measurement and analysis tasks in the VNIR, including:

  • Thin-film Characterization
  • Detailed imaging of Geological Samples
  • Food Research
  • Vegetation Studies
  • Cultural Heritage Preservation

“As hyperspectral imaging moves into increasingly demanding measurement applications, users need high spectral performance without making their imaging systems more difficult to build and integrate,” says Sami Toljamo, CCO at Specim. “With the SX10, we are bringing these capabilities together in a flexible VNIR platform that combines research-grade spectral performance with the speed and connectivity needed for modern hyperspectral imaging.”
